Our mission is to provide a safe loving forever home for special needs animals, Dogs, Cats, Bunnies, Hamsters and Rats.
We try to educate people that just because an animal is "differently abled", they are still wonderful compainon animals and deserve a loving, caring home. Because rats bond to their humans and their cage mates strongly, it can be very traumatic for them to lose their home. Sometimes they are not treated as an animal, only "Food" for another animal, or ignored completely.
Our Second goal is to educate people about rats, their personalities, needs and advantages as companion animals. As well as the different Jobs Rats are now doing around the world. Currently Rats search out land mines for disposal in Africa and South America and screen for Tuberculosis in Africa, Sniff out drugs in South America, act as service animals and therapy animals in the U.S. They are companion animals for seniors, who can't care for a larger animals like a dog or cat. They are classroom pets and help with special needs kids in many, many schools. They don't generally bite, don't smell, and don't run on little wheels all night. They are very smart and easy to train. They will adjust their eating and sleeping schedule to yours. They are extremely social animals who will search out attention from you, and give you much love in return. We are happy to go and speak about them to schools and groups. (depending on how far away you are, we might need gas money)
